We recently did some rearranging in our house and kind of accidentally ended up making a book and reading corner. Previously our books were kind of spread all throughout our house in different bookcases but now they are mostly all together. The only exceptions are that my son has all the picture books in his room, I may end up moving those with the rest of the books at some point. And then we have a few books used as decorations throughout the house as well as our collections of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, I have this leatherette collection and my husband has a set that…
What We’ve Been Reading Lately – September
So, apparently when the weather changes here I start reading more. In June and July I only read one book a month and this month I read something like twelve books! Other than the cooler weather I also think Scribd has a lot to do with my increased reading. I’m not even a full month into my free trial and I’ve already read/listened to seven books on there with a couple more on the go and some of the ones I read at the beginning of the month pre-Scribd are available on there as well. I’ve personally been very impressed by the selection. Not sure what Scribd is? Think of it…
What We’ve Been Reading Lately – August
A big part of our life and homeschool is reading, if you haven’t already signed up for the book-ish newsletter I would suggest you do so, I have some fun stuff I will be sharing there soon. Sharing what we’ve been reading each month is a great practice for me to look back on the month and I love sharing about our reads because then other people read them and we can continue to have great book discussions. I also enjoy getting book recommendations, so if you have one (or more) that you think we would enjoy, let me know! THE MOM I’ve mentioned a few times but…
What We’ve Been Reading Lately – July 2019
So, weekly this past winter and monthly in the summer I’ve been sending out my book-ish newsletter letting you know what we’ve been reading lately and some other book-ish resources and a couple of really good book deals that I came across. For the foreseeable future I am going to share what we we’ve been reading over here on the blog, but if you like all things books I would still suggest signing up for the book-ish newsletter because I have some fun book related things that I will be sharing there coming up soon! WHAT WE’RE CURRENTLY READING THE MOM This has been a slow reading…
Do the Books Our Kids Read Matter?
I have been thinking about this ^ a lot in the last week, if you receive my bookish newsletter each week you’ll already know that from last week’s email. Part of this has a lot to do with the fact that Raeca is really into the fantasy genre and it’s something I know almost nothing about since it’s never been my genre. I have become slightly more knowledgeable in the last couple of years but just a little. I know that many books, especially those in the fantasy and fairy tale genres can be so great for sharing the Gospel story, where good conquers evil, but there are also many…
Introducing: The Intentional Reading Book List & A Bookish Newsletter
I have always been an avid reader, from sneaking books into the bathroom to read as a pre-teen and early teenager to putting off grown up responsibilities as an adults (*cough* doing the dishes *cough*). My to-read list is incredibly long but thankfully I have always believed that there are way too many good books in the world to spend time reading less-than-stellar books, so I stop those books and go on to the next good book. In case you are in need of some top notch book recommendations, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. I’ve recently created my Intentional Reading Book List – over 70 book recommendations that include…
