We are slowly moving towards a more digital homeschool. We will always love notebooks and physical books but there are some real benefits to digital tools and resources – like being able to access them anywhere in the world!

Here are our seven favorite digital resources and tools:

OVERDRIVE

Overdrive is how we access digital books through our library. We use it for most of our audiobooks.

Read to Me Digital Books with Epic

EPIC

While Overdrive is good for audiobooks and some chapter books they are really lacking in the picture book department, that’s where Epic comes in for us. I love the “Read to Me” feature, it’s great for when my voice is horse and Ephraim wants to listen to more books.

STARFALL

We really like Starfall from about three years old till grade 1. You can use the free version or get full access with a year long membership. We purchased the membership for the year Raeca was 4 and it seemed perfect, Ephraim is at that age now and I think we’ll probably get the membership for a year in the fall.

YOUTUBE

There is a lot to go through on YouTube but you can learn just about anything! Raeca wanted to learn a portion of a certain worship song on the piano so I searched on YouTube and sure enough, we found a tutorial! I’ve used it for knitting, phonics, songs, and so much more!

GOOGLE DRIVE

I like using Google Drive to store my documents and while Raeca isn’t doing any official typing program at the moment, she does often like to open up a document and copy things out or write her own stories. I appreciate that it reduces our paper clutter!

NETFLIX

I like to watch a number of documentaries on Netflix with the kids, including Planet Earth!

GEOGUESSR

One of our absolute favorite sites in GeoGuessr! It’s a fun geography game that uses Google Street View to “place you” somewhere in the world and you have to drive around and look for clues so you can guess where you are.

And there you have it, our current favorite digital tools for homeschooling!
